Title: Part Time Student - Product Engineer- Ames, IA - 109714

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Student - Product Engineer for John Deere Technology Innovation Center located in Ames, Iowa, you will...

• Effectively communicate and work in a team environment

• Propose or evaluate design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance

• Create design concepts in CAD using Creo

• Develop dynamic performance specifications using simulation (MATLAB, Simscape, Simulink)

• Test design concepts in lab tests or in field environments on prototype equipment

• Apply technical knowledge to identify and resolve design weaknesses

• Assess lab and field event data for impact to product reliability

This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

What Skills You Need

• Ideally you will be pursuing degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University

• Graduation date of May 2026 or later

• Must be able to commute to the work location in Ankeny, Iowa, as agreed upon with the manager (NOTE: Relocation assistance is not provided.)

• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

• Available to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year

• Available to work 30-40 hours/week during the summer semester

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience on FIRST Robotics Team, developing and demonstrating your engineering skills

• Knowledge or work experience in production agriculture (specifically tillage, planters, and sprayers)

• Experience in product engineering (product design, build and product testing)

• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Tableau or PowerBI
