Your Responsibilities

As part of John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) you will have a front row seat to the digital farming revolution. Not everyone can do it, but we’ve done it before and we’re doing it again. At ISG, you will create cutting edge technology to improve our customers’ productivity, efficiency, and profitability, so our customers can feed, fuel, and clothe the world.

As a Java Software Engineer for ISG (Intelligent Solution Group) you will….

  • Develop and support high-quality John Deere software solutions in big data processing pipelines that support Digital applications and Services, feeds to Analytics, Automation and Autonomy solutions.

  • Engage in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and hackathons

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, architects and supporting teams to define product requirements and system design

  • Provide and discuss innovative technical solutions with designers and other stakeholders

  • Advocate for a culture of software crafting best practices, including Test Automation, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment

  • Work with individuals on your team to create and follow established coding standards, workflow, or tool standards

  • Pair frequently with senior members of the team

  • Incorporate customer feedback to ensure you are producing technical solutions that meet their needs

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)

  • 2 or more years of experience in backend development using Java, with C#, Scala etc. nice to have

  • Prior experience in processing large volumes of data

  • 2 or more years of experience in roles that require strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.

  • 2 or more years of experience in roles that required strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • 1 or more years of experience in cloud technologies like AWS/GCP/Azure.

What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)

  • 2+ years of equivalent AWS experience and/or AWS certified Developer/Architect

  • Ability to learn quickly, strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Understanding of Agriculture Domain or experience in Precision Ag technologies


  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field
