Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Battery Modeling Engineer for John Deere Power Systems located in Cary, NC, you will...
Lead development of battery models for electrification simulation purposes (e.g. electrical, thermal, and again) and for a variety of battery algorithm applications.
Lead battery model characterization and parameter identification efforts.
Lead battery model validation efforts.
Interface with the battery test team to design relevant tests in support of battery modeling activities.
Interface with battery management system team to develop relevant models in support of battery algorithm activities.
Interface with battery systems & applications teams to support battery pack sizing, battery performance evaluation, and battery aging activities.

What Skills You Need
5+ years of modeling experience
3+ years of battery modeling experience
3+ years of battery parameter identification experience
3+ years of battery model validation experience
3+ years of battery simulation experience
3+ years of battery modeling test design experience
5+ years contributing as a core team member on a cross-functional team
Experience with Matlab/Simulink
What Makes You Stand Out
Deep understanding of lithium-ion battery technology
Deep understanding of a variety of electrical, thermal, aging battery models
Understanding of physics and machine learning models
Demonstrated ability to develop, characterize and identify parameters, and validate models via experiments
Familiar with battery test equipment such as cyclers, environmental chambers, data acquisition, etc.
Demonstrated ability to work with battery test, battery management system, and battery systems & applications teams
Self-starter and passionate about vehicle electrification & battery technology
Advanced technical degree in engineering, Masters level or greater with emphasis on battery modeling
Experience with construction, agricultural, and turf vehicle engineering
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with relevant battery modeling experience
