Your Responsibilities

As an entry-level Mobile Application Developer, working for John Deere’s Intelligent Solutions Group at the John Deere Technology Innovation Center (located in Champaign, IL), you will have a front row seat to the digital farming revolution. You will work on projects with complex software challenges that help deliver a “connected experience” for John Deere’s customers. We are looking for individuals who enjoy tackling tough problems in a creative way. If you’re passionate about making our farmers more productive through mobile technologies, we’d like to talk with you. In addition, you will:

  • Develop and support high-quality John Deere software solutions for user-facing mobile apps.

  • Engage in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives and hackathons

  • Collaborate with team members to define product requirements and implementation

  • Provide and discuss innovative technical solutions with designers and other stakeholders

  • Support a culture of software craftsmanship best practices, including Test Automation, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment

  • Work with individuals on your team to follow established coding standards, workflow, or tool standards

  • Pair frequently with senior members of the team

What Skills You Need

  • 0-1 years of professional software development (thru relevant internships or practical work experience)

  • Excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Native iOS development in Objective C/Swift

  • Experience with other languages such as C++, Java, or Python

  • Experience with Android mobile development

  • Experience in aspects of the mobile lifecycle, such as: application structure, device and operating system API's, debugging, performance, security, accessibility and deployment

  • Advanced degree in an Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline or other related discipline combined with relevant experience(s)
