Function: Product Engineering

Title: Part-Time Student-Agricultural/Environmental Modeling-Champaign IL (Partial Remote) - 77808

Onsite/Remote: Partial remote

This position is located at the JDTIC Research Park on the campus of the University Of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule.

Your Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Student-Agricultural/Environmental Modeling for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Champaign, Illinois, you will:

o Applies existing knowledge, skills, and expertise to sustainability problems

o Learns and applies company engineering, scientific and data policies and practices; learns company products

o Research and process data sets and methods for application towards real world modeling.

o Executes modeling runs for test or analysis and verification and validation

o Evaluates possible solutions to improve efforts across cost, quality, performance, or other important metrics based on knowledge of sustainability applications

o Compiles and furnishes necessary information to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel

What Skills You Need

o Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Agriculture, Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, or STEM related field

o Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university

o Graduation date of December 2022 or later

o Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

o Must be able to work remotely or commute to the work location on a daily basis

o 16-20 hours/week during the academic year

o 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester

What Makes You Stand Out

o Pursuit of a graduate degree

o Experience in process-based modeling, sensitivity analysis, and benchmarking

o Strong skills in applied mathematics, algorithms, and statistical analysis

o Technical ability to develop or manage software code in Python, Java or C/C++, GitHub

o Ability to translate objectives and theory to practical design using agronomic or environmental models

o Proficient experience aggregated and processing data: Excel, SQL, APIs

o Passion for modeling, agriculture, and/or environmental sustainability
