Your Responsibilities
As a Lead Assembly Manufacturing Engineerfor John Deere Davenport Works in Davenport, IA you will provide Assembly Manufacturing Engineering (ME) support and troubleshooting for current operations in the Articulated Dump Truck business. You will engage with our workforce to overcome operational difficulties (assembly or fabrication), work with a cross functional team to execute continuous improvement projects and contribute to the overall One Davenport team. You will join a dynamic team and operate in a challenging production environment where valuing others, diversity and inclusion are critical to the success of our team and business. In addition, you will:
Establish routings, SOE (sequence of events), work standards, layouts, tooling, assembly costs, OMS (o perator methods sheets) and control plans for revisions to current operations
Identify opportunities and implement continuous improvement projects impacting safety, quality, efficiency, costand ergonomic improvements for department
Leverage and implement technology to improve our access to and utilization of data to drive business improvement
Design tools and fixtures and support the maintenance of production tooling & fixtures
Design cell layouts to improve material flow and part presentation in department
Support, communicate and implement Engineering changes
Train new operators to ensure that they are successful in their manufacturing method to achieve our safety, quality, delivery and efficiency goals.
Assist in the investigation and resolution of warranty and customer field issues
Drive lean manufacturing and waste elimination through established 5S policies and procedures

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)
Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with salaried and wage personnel in a team environment to navigate challenging situations
A self- starter who asks for and offers help when needed, meets challenges with resourcefulness and enthusiasm
Original thinking and an ability to identify problems and generate creative solutions
Understanding of manufacturing processes and working in a production environment
Experience with shop floor documentation, i.e.Sequence of Events (SOE), Labor Standardsand Operator Methods Sheets (OMS)
Experience with line and process design, material presentation, line balancing and visual management tools
Ability to effectively influence others, without authority
Ability to work overtime and weekends, if needed
What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)
Demonstrated formal or informal leadership skills
Experience initiating and managing large capital changes to drive improvements
Experience learning and applying technology, systems, data mining, and analysis tools to drive business improvements
Experience successfully navigating ambiguous situations
Experience with torque tooling, fluid fill systems, and test stands
Experience working with incentive pay systems, especially gainsharing programs such as CIPP ( Continuous Improvement Pay Plan)
Experience with AutoCAD and Creo View software
Industrial engineering experience with layouts and time studies
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelors degree in engineering related field or applicable experience
