Function: Customer & Product Support

Title: Machine Support Specialist - 92838

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.


As a Machine Support Specialist for John Deere Ottumwa Works located in Ottumwa, Iowa, you will:

  • Provide product or technical support to dealers and field teams

  • Author and develop new solutions for advanced technical issues

  • Identify and communicate errors found in publications

  • Identify emerging issues on advanced product programs

  • Work closely with other members of the Hay and Forage platform to ensure global customer needs are met

  • Collect failure data to provide problem definition in support of the problem resolution process

  • Analyze data to lower problem resolution cycle time

  • Adapt, develop, and deliver technical training with advanced content for Hay and Forage products

What Skills You Need

  • Effective communication skills

  • Experience contributing in a team environment

  • Experience in a role that demonstrates problem solving skills to anticipate issues and create solutions

  • Experience with negotiation and conflict resolution

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include off-shift and weekend hours in support of peak season activity

  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 2 or more years of experience in dealer or customer facing roles

  • Experience in agricultural practices

  • Experience with Case and Contact Management System (CCMS) and the Customer Support Process

  • Knowledge of Deere products, customers, Markets and Competitors

  • Experience with ISG products and how they interact with John Deere products

  • Experience with Early Detection Problem Resolution (EDPR)


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Technology, Engineering, or equivalent discipline or 2 years of relevant work experience
