Onsite/Remote:Partial Remote Position

This position is eligible for partial remote work at the present time.The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As an Embedded Software Engineer for John Deere Construction & Forestry located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will be part of a global team designing , developing, and delivering innovative and high-quality display software solutions. In addition, you will:

  • Perform product design, development, testing and/or analysis work.

  • Be proactive with and collaborate on analyzing and identifying potential impact to performance and/or quality.

  • Operate in an Agile software development team participating in design reviews and providing design solutions focused on efficiency, reusability, and backwards compatibility.

What Skills You Need

  • Experienceworking with display software on off highway equipment

  • Experience with embedded software product development through practical work experiences

  • 2 or more years of experience developing Linux software applications and APIs

  • 2 or more years of experience with C++ or a similar object-oriented embedded development language

  • Experience with designing modern UIs in Qt/QML

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze issues in a complex system, actively search and identify potential issues, and drive for sustainable solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to solve issues quickly through research, learning, and identifying new and innovative solutions

  • Demonstrated experience in roles that required excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work in a diverse distributed team environment

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with technology solutions utilized in the construction industry, such as grade control and GNSS, telematics, etc.

  • Experience working with a cross functional team(s) that delivered major product content to production

  • Experience with real time, embedded, multi-threaded systems

  • Experience or understanding of best practices for source control (e.g. GitHub, etc.)

  • Experience with Agile software development processes

  • Experience with CAN communications protocol and the J1939 standards

  • Knowledge of electronic circuits and components, such as Microcontrollers, FETs, EEPROM/Flash, etc., with the ability to read schematics and data sheets

  • Experience within an automotive, agricultural, or industrial machine setting

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
