Title: Engineering Supervisor, Backhoe Hydraulics & Structures - 105610

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities

As an Engineering Supervisor, Backhoe Hydraulics & Structures at John Deere Dubuque Works located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will:

  • Lead the Hydraulic and Structures engineering team for the Backhoe Loader and Landscape Loader product lines.

  • Provide leadership for current and future product development projects and continuous improvement projects in alignment with the global product line portfolio.

  • Supervise design engineering direct reports with responsibilities including work direction, individual coaching, recognition and career development.

  • Collaborate with a global engineering team to develop solutions.

  • Assist in the resolution of complex technical issues.

  • Perform administrative duties related to performance management, salary pay plan, succession planning, resource planning, training and development of direct reports.

  • Develop, track and meet capital and expense budgets for an area of responsibility.

  • Work collaboratively as a key member of the product line engineering leadership team in the development and execution of our business strategy.

  • Interact regularly with Manufacturing Operations, Suppliers, Accounting, Customer Product Support, Quality, Production Verification and Validation (PV&V) and Marketing.

What Skills You Need

  • 5 or more years of previous engineering experience performing analysis, testing, design and/or manufacturing engineering work for a defined portion of a project.

  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to break complex tasks and interactions down into executable action items.

  • Working knowledge of product development processes, including evidence of multiple program completions.

  • Project leadership experience, such as a team leader, integration lead on a product development program

  • Excellent communication skills and leadership potential

  • Experience working with suppliers in the application and design of systems and components.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Good understanding of construction products, applications, and production systems.

  • Experience working with customers, dealers, and product support marketing reps in the resolution of performance and reliability issues.

  • Good understanding of construction products, applications and production systems.

  • System Engineering education, training or demonstrated capability.

  • Creo, Windchill, and SAP skills

  • Advanced degree (e.g. master's degree in an engineering or technical discipline, or MBA)

  • Previous experience with direct reports, coaching and mentoring.


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent.
