Function: Product Engineering
Title: Product Engineer - 41526
As a Product Engineer for John Deere Construction & Forestry Division, located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will be responsible for powertrain and tanks & sheet metal functional areas for current production backhoe loaders. In addition, you will:
Identify and prioritize activities to reduce warranty and improve product reliability
Perform root cause analysis, solution development, and validation for powertrain and tanks & sheet metal functional groups
Attend daily production meetings and support backhoe loader assembly operations by investigating issues and implementing corrective action for design issues
Support customers by assisting dealer technical assistance center personnel to quickly resolve field cases related to powertrain components
Analyze data to aid in the identification and resolution of issues for backhoe loaders across all functional areas
Attend and provide input to weekly team meetings, design reviews, and monthly leadership meetings
Contribute to engineering standards, product design guidelines, design books, and engineering analysis procedures for backhoe loaders

What Skills You Need
Engineering experience through either internships or practical work experience
Experience in roles that required a basic knowledge of powertrain systems including engines, transmissions, axles, and thermal systems
Experience analyzing technical data; consider multiple alternatives and provide data driven decisions and recommendations
Demonstrated effective organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Experience with 3D modeling packages and tool
What Makes You Stand Out
Knowledge of construction, forestry, or agricultural equipment
Prior experience with Root Cause Analysis and 8D problem solving
Experience as a team lead, integration lead, or Subject Matter Expert
Education (or equivalent work experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree.
