Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Engineer for the John Deere Construction & Forestry Division located in Dubuque, IA, you will support the articulated dump truck (ADT) and large scraper pan product lines.
Lead the embedded systems development for the ADT and large scraper pan by defining and developing the electrical architecture and software requirements. This includes both strategically planning and executing new product development programs and current product continuous improvement updates.
Engage with the Precision Construction, Advanced R&D, JD ISG, and Project Verification and Validation ( PV&V) teams to develop advanced vehicle features utilizing common divisional and enterprise hardware components and software algorithms.
Engage with vehicle system experts and key stakeholders to derive stakeholder needs to define system and feature level requirements for the embedded software and electrical architecture.
Diagnose and resolve electrical hardware and embedded software issues.
Coach and mentor the electrical systems and embedded software engineers supporting ADTs.

What Skills You Need
5 years or more years of technical product development experience
Demonstrated technical experience in embedded software development thorough either requirements definition or software coding
Demonstrated technical experience in vehicle electrical /electronic system development
Demonstrated understanding of Controller Area Network (CAN) based vehicle communication protocols and controls algorithms
Demonstrated understanding of vehicle mechanical systems (engine, drivetrain, hydraulics) and their dependencies with embedded systems and interactions with each other
What Makes You Stand Out
Ability to drive requirements from incomplete stakeholder needs
Experience using the Agile process
Experience developing vehicle level software code (C or similar)
Experience with material hauling systems like ADTs and scraper pans and the associated production systems
Demonstrated understanding of CAN FD and ethernet based communication protocols
Understanding of electrical hardware verification requirements (EMC, JDQ, RQA)
Demonstrated application of systems engineering principles to complex problems
Understanding of telemetric data capabilities and datasets (JDLink)
Advanced engineering degree or systems engineering certificate
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably electrical) or Computer Science
