Your Responsibilities
As a Vehicle Performance Engineer for the John Deere Construction & Forestry Division located in Dubuque, IA, you will lead the definition of the vehicle performance requirements for the articulated dump truck (ADT) and large scraper pan product lines.
Work with marketing to understand emerging technologies and future customer needs. This includes acting as the voice of the customer within engineering.
Translate market needs into system and machine level requirements to drive overall machine performance while working with sub-function owners to ensure performance specs are met.
Manage the Integrated Systems Development Process/Technology Development Program (ISDP/TDP) portfolio, the generation and protection of intellectual property, and the documentation of critical product design knowledge.
Act as product line contact for Earthmoving Production Systems.

What Skills You Need
5 or more years of technical product development experience
Demonstrated technical proficiency in single functional area
Ability to influence without authority for internal and external teams
Willingness to develop machine operation skills to support performance evaluations
Ability to travel up to 25% domestically
What Makes You Stand Out
Ability to drive requirements from incomplete customer needs
Demonstrated technical proficiency in multiple functional areas with an understanding of interdependencies and tradeoffs
Experience with material hauling systems such asADTs and scraper pans
Experience with other machine forms in the Site Development and Quarry & Aggregate production systems
Demonstrated application of systems engineering principles to complex problems
Experience with software systems requirements development
Understanding of CAN based communication and tools (VSpy)
Understanding of telemetric data capabilities and datasets (JDLink)
Experience with data analysis, kinematics, and dynamics modeling toolsets (nCode, Matlab, Simulink, Simscape Multi-body)
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
BS in Mechanical, Agriculture, or Electrical Engineering
