Title: Electrical Systems Engineer - 42758

Your Responsibilities

As an Electrical Systems Engineer, for the John Deere Global Crop Harvesting Product Development Center (Silvis, IL), you will plan and coordinate electrical system design efforts for major electrical subsystems on combine harvester Enterprise Product Delivery Programs (EPDP). In addition, you will:

  • Work within cross-functional teams as an electrical expert. Communicate electrical system application knowledge within the Crop Harvesting organization.

  • Develop design solutions to meet customer requirements for combine electrical subsystems

  • Lead cross functional teams in the decision process to select the best electrical design concepts to meet customer requirements and business goals.

  • Document system and software requirements for combine electrical subsystems.

  • Develop new technology applications and be an expert on critical technology for subsystems of a major and diverse project

  • Lead the resolution of subsystem and component level technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers

  • Provide technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality, and supply management organizations.

  • Collaborate with PV&V to develop test or analysis plans for subsystems and components.

  • Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to newer team members.

What Skills You Need

  • 2 or more years of Electrical or Computer Engineering experience

  • Experience using engineering problem solving methods

  • Experience working in a team-based environment and collaborating on problem solving and resolution of technical issues

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience in giving presentations and explaining complex engineering issues and solutions

  • Experience with computer-aided design and engineering tools

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience in the design and development of electrical systems on mobile vehicle applications

  • Experience with embedded software and hardware development

  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles

  • Familiarity with John Deere products and the conditions in which they operate

  • Experience with designing and developing embedded control systems

  • Experience with J1939 CAN communication protocol and using CAN logging tools (CANalyzer, CANsniff etc.)

  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems, or Ag Engineering
