Function: Product Engineering

Title: Technical Lead, Plastics and Upholstery - 53740

Your Responsibilities

This position may be located in Silvis engineering center or Waterloo Product engineering center per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

As a Technical Lead for Plastics and Upholstery for Operator Station Engineering, located in East Moline, IL or Waterloo, IA you will use and develop your knowledge and experience with Plastics and Upholsteries related technologies to provide technical leadership for complex design problems related to Plastics and Upholsteries product development. In addition, you will:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to lead and resolve design challenges

  • Stay up to date with the latest on plastics technology and leverages that knowledge with the Plastics and Upholsteries engineering team an also with the Core tech development work

  • Actively participate and contribute to core tech projects related to Plastics and Upholsteries

  • Work with suppliers through supply management organization to guide on solution to complex problems related to Plastics design as well as part delivery

  • Be actively involved in the development process for plastic parts and can support conversations regarding timelines for development as well as assess and recommend different options when facing timeline constraints

  • Travel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally

What Skills You Need

  • Expert in design and product development the Plastics and Upholsteries related technology

  • Skill in using our company's information system and processes, specifically CREO, SAP, Ag PDM

  • Lead discussions towards issue resolution while facilitating collaboration

  • Capable to relate all technical discussions back to the team’s strategic plans

What Makes You Stand Out

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • Expert technical knowledge on plastics and upholsteries product development

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, especially those related to plastic part's development work

  • Advanced training or experience in plastics technology

  • Fundamental understanding of tractor and combine machines both internal and external to Deere

  • Advanced comprehension of the EPDP process to apply to complex issues to solve

  • Advanced degree in Engineering

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
