Title: Variable Shift Quality Module Leader - 42924

Your Responsibilities

As a Variable Shift Quality Module Leader at John Deere Harvester Works located in East Moline, IL, you will establish the employee environment regarding communications, feedback and overall guidance. In addition, you will:

  • Ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job

  • Monitor Control Plans, troubleshoot workmanship problems and generally supervise production activities to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements

  • Administer employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit

  • Monitor individual and line performance and take corrective action including discipline, as needed and respond to complaints to insure the Company and employees adheres to policies, practices, procedures and work rules

  • Determine manufacturing and/or distribution priorities based on the production schedule and make daily assignments including filling vacancies and assigning overtime in order to adhere to the Customer Delivery date

  • Plan for maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the uptime and utilization of capital equipment assets

  • Monitor and make corrections to stay within the department operating budget targets

  • Direct departmental continuous improvement plans and activities

  • Implement and monitor safety programs and housekeeping

What Skills You Need

  • Understanding of employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit

  • Knowledge of shop floor manufacturing and/or warehouse and distribution production pay systems

  • Working knowledge of the appropriate operating and information systems

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventable maintenance and facilities

  • Knowledge of products, customers, markets and competitors

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Just-in- Time, Kanban, Demand Flow Technology

  • Knowledge of general accounting in support of establishing and managing departmental operating budgets

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Demonstrated understanding of Quality processes with regards to in-line inspections, audits (weld and product), and the Non Conforming Material (NCM) process

  • Production floor experience managing wage employees

  • Experience implementing engineered solutions in a production environment

  • Quality engineering experience

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree
