John Deere Fargo Skilled: Engineering Technician Intern in Fargo, North Dakota
POSITION TITLE: Engineering Technician Intern
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Currently enrolled in a A.S. or certificate program in a related technical field
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: No experience required
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Possess effective written and verbal communication skills, enabling correspondence with internal departments, vendors, and customers
Working knowledge of personal computers, spreadsheets, and word processing
Understanding of manufacturing processes and electronic components
A general understanding of diagnostic equipment and manufacturing equipment (e.g., multimeters)
Understanding of troubleshooting methodologies to identify root cause (e.g., Six Sigma)
Ability to read and comprehend basic engineering documents (e.g., schematics or diagrams)
Maintain necessary product and process records/documentation
Ability to comprehend and use product/process component datasheets
Ability to assemble and disassemble products and manufacturing equipment
Ability to maintain production equipment
Ability to perform basic mechanical work
Ability to train a production associate
Knowledge of ergonomics and proper manufacturing safety techniques
Ability to work with minimal supervision
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Understanding of lean manufacturing methodologies
Ability to solder
Job Purpose: Assist in supporting engineering and production through methods improvement, troubleshooting and repair, regular maintenance, equipment programming, process/work instruction development for products and equipment.
Job Duties:
Basic understanding of the printed circuit board and manufacturing assembly processes with the ability to respond to any common failures in the process with a corrective action.
Provide basic technical support to assigned production teams to assist in the resolution of problems during manufacturing.
Participate in the development and maintaining of basic programs, processes, and assembly procedures for the manufacture of products under the guidance of engineers.
Assist in the repair, setup, qualification and maintenance of basic mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic functions for a minimal number of production equipment and smart fixtures.
Correspond with technical support via telephone, e-mail, verbal or other means to resolve technical issues appropriately.
Assist in training of operators on production equipment and processes.
Assist engineers under guidance on “Essential Job Functions” as required.
Assist engineers in the design and fabrication of basic production fixtures, jigs, and simple machines.
Willingness to work independently and also within a team based environment as required.
Ability to perform basic research, gather and summarize data for use in determining errors and root cause. Provide recommendations for problem resolution or process improvement.May support implementation.
Perform other associated tasks as required from their supervisor and manager.
