Title: Senior Software Design Engineer - Power Electronics - 96909

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

This position may be located in Fargo, ND or Cary, NC per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Design Engineer - Power Electronics for the John Deere ISG Electrification team located in Fargo, ND or Cary, NC , you will….

  • Develop innovative and robust embedded software solutions for our power electronics products and the vehicle platforms that use them

  • Create and execute quality test plans leveraging HIL/MIL/SIL where most effective and augmenting with lab and vehicle tests for final validation

  • Provide mentorship to other developers in software design, modeling, coding, and testing practices

  • Define and prioritize the backlog of project work needed to deliver on any projects that you lead

What Skills You Need

  • 5 or more years of professional experience developing software projects using the C programming language

  • 5 or more years of experience employing rigorous process measures to ensure product quality

  • 5 or more years of experience in embedded software development using real time operating systems, task schedulers, and configuring microcontroller peripherals

  • 5 or more years of experience developing robust software verification measures for production intent products

  • 3 or more years of experience leading the development of one or more software projects

  • 1 or more years of development experience using model-based software development

  • Experience with communication protocols such as J1939, ISO11783, UDS

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (English)

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with power electronics products such as inverters, converters, or battery management systems

  • Experience with Agile software development methods

  • Experience with test automation using Hardware in the Loop systems

  • Experience with control systems (e.g. electro-mechanical control or electro-hydraulic control systems)

  • Other programming languages such as C# or Python


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree.
