Function: Product Engineering

Title: Firmware Engineer - 76289

Your Responsibilities

As a Firmware Engineer for Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Fargo, North Dakota, you will be a member of a team of engineers responsible for the design and development of boot block software for use in the embedded products for the enterprise. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Design, develop and implement embedded software for enterprise boot block needs

  • Ensure requirements are known, documented and traceable to test coverage

  • Develop and implement appropriate testing and automation to ensure quality and validation of requirements.

  • Support the integration and use of the embedded boot block throughout the enterprise, including debugging and troubleshooting.

  • Support the product security strategy through boot block design and implementation of security requirements

  • As a team member, participate in Agile ceremonies – planning/demos/retrospectives and stakeholder reviews.

What Skills You Need

  • Product Engineering experience developing electrical/electronic/software systems

  • 2-3+ years of experience in embedded software development in C/C+

    • Experience with microcontroller operation and memory organization, multi-core and/or multi-threaded systems
  • Experience with data transmission protocols (CAN, Ethernet)

  • Ability to develop requirements and needs into solutions and drive consensus, collaboration and actions to reach it

  • Ability to solve problems, troubleshoot issues, and determine root cause.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience developing bootloader applications.

  • Experience developing low-level embedded drivers and/or board support packages (BSP)

  • Experience involving hardware security, device provisioning infrastructure, cryptographic concepts, and standards.

  • Experience with CAN/CAN-FD and CAN-based protocols such as UDS, J1939, ISO 11783

  • Comfort in debugging electronic hardware and using tools such as oscilloscopes, and multimeters.

  • Experience with Git or other software revision tracking systems

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages

  • Experience with continuous improvement tools such as Jenkins

  • Advanced degree in an Engineering Discipline

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Science or Technology discipline – preferably Electrical / Software Engineering
