Title: Electrical Engineer - 73967

Your Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer for John Deere Turf Care, located in Fuquay Varina, NC, you will engage with other unit engineers as well as appropriate subject matter experts to provide expertise in the design, development, integration of electrical components and systems on Golf and Commercial mowing products. In addition, you will:

  • Apply engineering rigor in hardware, software requirements, vehicle harnessing, sensor and component selection, and operator interface display development activities while seeking to determine a design that will meet global product requirements optimized for cost, quality, and performance.

  • Develop, maintain and/or provide technical expertise in system/component/software requirements capture and documentation.

  • Provide technical expertise in supporting on-site production lines and be a liaison to internal customer support teams in support of complex field diagnostics.

  • Collaborate with Product Verification & Validation (PV&V) resources to create and execute validation plan activities (design analysis, simulation, lab tests, field tests, certification/compliance tests, etc.) for components and systems.

  • Utilize and contribute to John Deere's Communities of Practice (CoP) to ensure best practices throughout our product lines.

What Skills You Need

  • 3+ years of technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of DC based electrical, electro-mechanical and/or electro-hydraulic systems.

  • 3+ years’ experience with electrical component selection, specification and/or design for automotive or off-highway mobile equipment applications.

  • 3+ years’ demonstrated skills & knowledge in or more of the following areas: electronic hardware design, embedded SW design, communication bus interfaces (e.g. J1939 CAN), and/or electrification / hybrid vehicle development.

  • 2+ years’ experience with whole good product development programs (PDP) programs, processes and tools (SAP, PDMLink, Windchill, etc).

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to facilitate and lead activities with internal stakeholders (e.g. factory operations, customer support, test personnel, etc.) and suppliers.

  • 2+ years’ demonstrated project management skills.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25%.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Established skillset developing off-road or automotive vehicle electrical systems including electrical/electronic component specifications, harness design/development and associated manufacturing processes.

  • Hands on experience troubleshooting AC and/or DC off-road and/or automotive electrical systems.

  • Prior experience with Capital Harness, PROe/Creo or equivalent 3D harness design tool(s) and/or CAD systems(s).

  • Established systems integration experience with Hybrid, Series Hybrid and/or Battery Electric (BEV) vehicles in a production environment.

  • Experience with wireless connectivity, telematics, GPS based guidance systems and/or electric drive development.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical and Computer Engineering discipline.
