Function: Product Engineering

Title: Product Validation Engineer - Reliability - 77321

Your Responsibilities

As a Product Validation Engineer – Reliability for John Deere Turf Care, located in Fuquay Varina, NC, you will plan and coordinate testing and analysis work for design projects, which vary in complexity from component only to full systems/vehicles of moderate scope. In addition, you will:

  • Operate in a team environment within PV&V (Product Verification and Validation) and the design community

  • Understand and communicate critical product design changes with possible impact on vehicle performance or reliability in global applications

  • Develop and manage comprehensive PV&V plans, and work with appropriate swim lanes to complete required activities.

  • Analyze assignments and determine testing specifications which must be completed for product validation

  • Assign, organize, and review work done by PV&V engineers, Lab Technicians, and Mechanics

  • Provide technical support to marketing, product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply management functional areas

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years of experience with off-road vehicles, agricultural vehicles, or their attachments

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to lead teams, facilitate meetings, and knowledge sharing

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (root cause determination)

  • 1 or more years of technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems

  • 2 or more years of project management experience (planning and execution)

  • 1 or more years of general experience with data acquisition instrumentation (e.g., thermocouples, strain gauges, pressure sensors, etc.)

  • Travel, both domestic and international, may be required, up to 25%

What Makes You Stand Out

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and present technical information using practical judgment

  • Experience with electric vehicle development (battery technology and electric drives)

  • Experience with reliability processes such as Repairable & Non-Repairable Systems Analysis, Accelerated Life Testing, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, and Design for Six Sigma techniques

  • Demonstrated understanding of product reliability goals, reliability growth, and reliability prediction

  • Knowledge of Commercial Mowing and Golf course equipment and their applications

  • Knowledge of John Deere PV&V systems (NCCA, Vision, etc.)


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Reliability, Electrical, Mechanical, Agricultural Engineering or equivalent work experience with a technical degree.
