Title: Mexico General Counsel
Primary Location: Mexico (MX) - Nuevo León (MX-NLE) - Garza Garcia
Provides legal service to Deere & Company's operations in Mexico (except for John Deere Financial businesses, which has distinct legal support).
Independently renders opinions concerning complex legal matters requiring significant expertise, consults with and advises the Deere businesses in Mexico.
Advises the Deere businesses in Mexico concerning significant commercial transactions and regulations, finance issues, domestic or international laws and regulations, claim liability, litigation and risk management and other legal.
Collaborates closely with other members of the global law services group to achieve effective delivery of services to the Deere business client in Mexico.
Retains and manages outside counsel.
Participates as a key member of the Mexico leadership team to provide insights on key legal issues.
Provides mentorship to Legal Process Administrator in Mexico.
What Skills You Need:
Must demonstrate an understanding of Corporate Governance, commercial contracting, distribution and trade regulation, dispute resolution and litigation under Mexican law.
An understanding of Mexican employment law and/or environmental law is a plus, but not required. Possess high level of business acumen to work with business partners to find solutions to business needs and legal requirements that are in compliance.
Keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Must model desired employee and leadership behaviors and act in a manner consistent with the Deere Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Exemplary skills in management and building relationships with reports and business clients.
Proficient in English as a second language.
A minimum of 4 years of experience (preferably 5 to 7) in-house at a multi-national company.
A minimum of 2 years of experience (preferably 3 to 5) at a reputable Mexican law firm.
Availability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Technical background in manufacturing is a plus, but not required.
Education (or equivalent experience):
- Law Degree, actively licensed in good standing in Mexico.
