Title: Area Sales Manager- Agribusiness Northeast US - 103744

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

This position may be located in Lancaster, PA, Harrisburg, PA, York, PA, West Chester, PA or the surrounding areas per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

Your Responsibilities

As an Agribusiness Area Sales Manager for John Deere Financial (JDF) in the Northeast, you will support Agricultural Retailers located from Virginia to Maine by positioning John Deere Financial sales finance programs. In addition, you will:

  • Develop crop input finance programs to grow sales for agricultural retailers and provide solutions for their customers

  • Serve as a liaison between agricultural retailers and JDF resources to improve processes and solve problems

  • Be viewed as the Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) for the JDF agribusiness channel in this geographic footprint

  • Communicate with key JDF stakeholders regarding market concerns, marketing conditions, competition, and customer issues to support profitable growth of the business

  • Develop retailer demand and grower awareness of the JDF Multi-Use product for a given geographic area

  • Focus on high potential accounts in specific geographic territories to ensure market penetration with industry leading agribusiness retailers

  • Travel (on average) 50% of the time to agricultural retailers, producers, and manufacturing representatives to conduct in-person meetings

  • Document sales calls and utilize information to develop and improve relationships

In this role, you will be responsible for working from your home office (within the designated territory) to maintain a satisfactory balance between conducting field visits to Agribusiness Retailers and Producers and fulfilling office-based planning and administrative responsibilities.

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years of experience with sales, marketing, credit, or business

  • Strong relationship building, communication, sales, and negotiation skills

  • Strong planning, organization, and execution skills

  • Ability to travel an average of 50%, domestically

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Proven success in outside sales and managing a sales territory

  • Understanding of JDF Multi-Use Account Special Terms programs

  • Agricultural industry experience– crop inputs, markets, products, competitors and customers

  • Marketing/sales experience with financial services or equipment sales

  • Proven ability to improve business performance

  • Self-starter, with an ability to work independently


Ideally, you will have a degree or related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, Agriculture, Marketing/Sales or equivalent work experience
