Function: Product Engineering
Title: Electrical Engineer - 41659
As an Electrical Engineer in the Turf and Utility Platform, you will be part of an overall team responsible for the development and validation of components and systems for Utility Vehicles as well as Golf, Commercial, and Residential mowing equipment. In addition, you will:
Engage with enterprise teams (e.g. embedded SW, advanced R&D, advanced electrification) to develop components and perform system integration activities.
Lead multi-unit/multi-vehicle system & component selection, development and integration to include determining critical path issues and executing action plans in conjunction with supplier resources and engineers within the platform and at other Deere units
Apply engineering rigor in hardware, software, harness, sensor, and display development activities while seeking to determine a design that will meet global product requirements while optimizing for cost, quality, and performance
Develop and maintain system/component/software design requirements documents
Collaborate with Product Verification & Validation resources to create and execute validation plan activities (design analysis, simulation, lab tests, field tests, certification/compliance tests, etc.) for components and systems
Utilize and contribute to John Deere's Communities of Practice (CoP) to ensure best practices throughout our product lines
Assist Current Product Improvement Teams regarding electrical system components to provide rapid response to factory and field issues

What Skills You Need
3 or more years of experience with electrical system development for off-highway mobile equipment
Demonstrated technical capability and electrical troubleshooting skills
Working knowledge of and exposure to embedded hardware and software with demonstrated skills and knowledge in one or more of the following: electronic hardware design, validation, & manufacturing; embedded software development, communication bus interfaces (e.g. J1939 CAN)
Must be a self-starter and able to work well without close direction, both in the office and in the field
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to break complex opportunities/issues/obstacles down into executable action items
What Makes You Stand Out
Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:
Experience in the Ag, Turf, Recreational Vehicle, or Construction industry, Specialty/Emergency, or Military applications
An advanced degree
Project management experience (e.g. certification)
Experience with electrification / hybrid vehicle development
Experience with DFSS processes including FMEA
Experience using Mentor Graphics Capital Harness Systems and/or ProE ProDiagram and/or ProE ProCabling or equivalent CAD systems (e.g. CATIA)
Skilled in using John Deere information systems, processes and a working knowledge of the Enterprise Product Development Process (EPDP)
Education (or equivalent work experience)
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
