Your Responsibilities

Note: This position may be located in Urbandale, IA, or San Francisco, CA, per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency:

As a Data Wrangler, Precision Ag Analytics for John Deere’s Intelligent Services Group (ISG), you will join our team building world class data science solutions to enable smarter machines and better decisions for our customers. As a data wrangler – you will iteratively evaluate and transform data from a variety of sources (including geospatial, transactional, and imagery data) while partnering with a data scientist to create algorithms utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence. Join a team that is passionate about making a difference by applying cutting edge technology to solve some of the world's biggest problems. In addition, you will:

  • Discover, ingest, and evaluate data for completeness and quality and recommend cleaning techniques as appropriate for data science solutions

  • Develop and execute data transformation within a cloud environment to progress data science solutions forward

  • Research and recommend methods and technology to efficiently manage data and processing to support the operationalization of data science

  • Collaborate and communicate closely with data scientists and engineers to identify and build needed infrastructure, tools, and libraries to support machine learning algorithms

What Skills You Need

  • 2 or more years of experience and proficiency in at least two of the following technologies - SQL, Python, Scala, or Spark

  • 2 or more years working with large data sets and data processing within a cloud-based environment

  • 2 or more years of experience working across data sources to generate insights

  • 1 or more years of experience analyzing geospatial data

  • 2 or more years of experience developing analytic/data visualizations

  • 2 or more years of experience working with relational databases

  • 2 or more years of experience working with unstructured data

  • 2 or more years of experience working with agronomic data

  • 2 or more years of experience working on cross-functional projects

  • Experience working in an agile environment

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data and Analytics
