Title: Software Engineer, Database Administrator - 77084

Your Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, Database Admin for John Deere Financial located in Johnston, Iowa, you will….

  • Work on a multiplatform database product team and support product design by planning its work, coordinating with others, and writing and testing database code.

  • You will be part of a team that will develop database infrastructure as code for John Deere Financial.

What Skills You Need

  • Three or more years of proven experience in database administration in PostgreSQL, DB2 for Z, or SQL Server preferred.

  • Proficiency working on more than one type of database management system is strongly recommended (i.e. PostgreSQL, DB2 for Z/OS, SQL Server)

  • Four or more years of understanding of applications development environment, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints

  • Two or more years of experience with AWS RDS instances.

  • Demonstratable experience using infrastructure as code associated with database management.

  • Mastery level of tuning and writing in SQL language.

  • Experience coding any of the following languages: Python, React, Java Scripting, Terraform.

  • Experience with DevOps principles and lean development such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (Jenkins, Active Control etc.)

  • Strong analytic skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

  • Proven experience working in a team environment, among team members and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business needs.

  • At least one year of proven experience working with Agile/Scrum team roles and responsibilities


Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology
