As a Software Engineer for Data Enablement Team located in Johnston, IA, you will….
Developing and supporting high quality John Deere Financial Data Enablement RESTful APIs
Engaging in all aspects of the software delivery cycle including the design, build, test, deploy, and support of software applications
Serve as a team technical lead
Engaging in Agile software development activities including team sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
Collaborating with Product Managers, Architects, and other supporting teams to define product requirements, system design, and delivery cadences
Taking a lead role in proposing application/system designs, communicating delivery estimates, and providing consistent hands-on guidance to ensure the delivery of high quality products
Supporting a culture of software craftsmanship best practices including Test Automation, Continuous Integration/Deployment, and DevOps methodologies
Mentoring and developing junior team members through code pairing or other technical skill coaching
What Skills You Need
3+ years of hands-on experience in designing and developing high volume web services using API Protocols and Data Formats (REST, JSON, SOAP & XML)
3+ years of varied database experience (e.g. DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
3+ years working experience with SQL (Standard Query Language)
1 or more years of experience with public clouds – AWS OR Azure
Experience with agile development, paired programming and TDD/CI/CD practices
Experience in securing APIs using OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect and etc
Strong knowledge in API Modelling languages and annotation (YAML, Swagger, RAML)
What Makes You Stand Out
Cloud Certification (AWS or Azure)
Capable of collaborating with multiple business stakeholders to provide information technology solution
Appetite for continuous learning and willingness/dedication to develop deep technical skills needed to further develop, transform, and modernize processes and solutions
Experience in maintaining and/or refactoring legacy code bases
Experience in serving as the primary Technical Lead for a software development team
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or other IT related discipline
