Responsibilities

As a Staff Software Engineer working on a hybrid basis for John Deere Financials based in Johnston, IA, Moline, IL, or Chicago,ILand you will lead a team of 6 developers who are accountable for evaluating, designing, and implementing a brand-new credit approval application that is aimed at improving cost, quality, performance, and customer experience.

Your role as Staff Software Engineer will also involve interacting with John Deere dealers and merchants to drive successful feature delivery of this new application to our customers.

You will also be involved with:

  • Coaching junior software engineers and software engineering practices alongside the Engineering Manager

  • Designing, developing, and supporting software that is highly available, mission-critical, fault-tolerant, and resilient according to industry standards

  • Leading your team towards adapting to changes quickly

  • Delivering excellent customer service by applying industry-leading software design principles

What Skills You Need

  • 5 or more years of full-stack software development experience, particularly with developing Single Page Applications, Web Applications, Hybrid Apps and APIs using JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS/ReactNative, NodeJS

  • 3 or more years of expertise utilizing cloud-native technologies in AWS/Azure/GCP preferably AWS serverless technologies such as API Gateway, Lambda, Fargate, S3, CloudFront, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, IAM, CloudWatch, and Route53

  • Expertise with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform/ AWS CloudFormation

  • Knowledge of building fault tolerant and resilient services while leveraging established and emerging design patterns

  • Lean development and DevSecOps experience

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Expertise in defining APIs, resource modeling, and domain modeling

  • Track record of building highly available systems and event-driven APIs using GraphQL

  • Experience with GraphQL, ReactNative

  • Ability to thrive within Agile/Scrum team environments

  • Experience with defining and building Metrics & KPIs to improve customer experience and system reliability

Education

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering or Technology-related discipline OR equivalent full-stack development experience
