The European Technology Innovation Center (ETIC) of John Deere, located in Kaiserslautern, is part of a global R&D network. Its focus is on research on and development of future trends and technologies around agricultural, turf and construction machines.

We are looking for an enthusiastic UI/UX Specialist with a pioneering spirit to join our fast-paced group. You will be a member of a Lean-Startup team doing research in the area of innovative and forward-looking products and services in the Digital Farming space: Mobile and Web applications allow our customers to timely access data from machines to manage information easily and efficiently.

Therefore the European Technology Innovation Center is looking for a smart and creative talent:

UX Designer (f/m)

Your duties will include forming your own ideas and strategy, and developing new services, prototypes and products enabling digital products for John Deere machines. As a User Experience Interaction Designer you will be responsible for creating navigation structures, user Interaction task flows, as well as developing mock-ups, storyboards and prototypes to effectively communicate designs to product owners and development teams. You will be an active member of an agile team and will work closely with teams across different locations and time zones.

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science in a Design or User Experience related field (Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, etc.)

  • You demonstrate the ability to translate customer needs into designs and can present these to technical team members

  • Experience in creating interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts and enable end-user validations

  • Ability to evolve designs from wireframes, mockups, and prototypes into high-fidelity designs and specifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in the use of at least two of the following design and prototyping tools: Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD, Adobe Illustrator, Axure, Balsamic or Hype.

  • You demonstrate strong visual design aesthetics

  • You demonstrate the use of typography principles

  • You demonstrate effective communication and presentation skills, including the ability to lead design discussions and workshops

  • 2+ years’ experience in working in interdisciplinary teams

  • You demonstrate deep knowledge in human-computer interaction and usability topics in general

  • 2+ years’ experience in creating design specifications for development teams

  • Experience in working with style guides

  • Entrepreneurial thinking and approach

  • Goal- and strategy-oriented approach

  • High level of motivation and ability to adapt to change

  • Ability to compromise and perseverance

  • Analytical and systematic approach

  • Creativity, highly developed conceptual skills

  • Awareness of trends and new technologies and the opportunities they present for the mobility of the future

This makes you stand out:

  • Developing experiences across digital platforms

  • Experience conducting end-user validation of your designs including usability testing with standard metrics

  • Experience with agriculture, construction vehicles or similar industry

  • Working knowledge of software development and testing practices

  • Experience working with remote development teams

  • You have an outstanding will to get things accomplished and show strong individual responsibility
