Your Responsibilities

As an Automation Engineer for John Deere, you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for automation equipment located at the North American Parts Distribution Center in Milan IL. As the SME for automated equipment, you will primarily work with robotic warehousing technologies, automated storage and retrieval systems, automatic dimensioning equipment, RF scanning equipment, and automated packaging equipment. This position will be responsible for providing a high level of operational availability by ensuring execution of maintenance activities, providing Engineering support during down events, installing machine specific software updates, and driving workforce productivity via fully leveraging the automation's full capability and data.

What Skills You Need

  • Background in controls and automation equipment

  • Experience in managing industrial projects

  • Proficiency with CAD systems and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project)

What Makes You Stand Out

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • Experience supporting a shop floor equipment with automation equipment (Robotics, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), and/or Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming)

  • Networking equipment experience

  • Experience or knowledge with IT tools or programming languages, including, SAS, DB2, R, Python and/or SAS/DB2 interface, as well as TSO and JCL

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Science
