Title: Part-Time Student - Manufacturing Engineering - Milan, IL - 52548
Your Responsibilities
The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment John Deere's regular full time staff, and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:
Process and Industrial Engineering support of warehouse receiving, storage, picking and shipping operations
Perform detailed and complex analyses of warehousing functions
Establishing new warehouse processes to improve performance in safety, quality and productivity
Designing warehouse layouts for optimal material flow and reduction of travel
Establishing labor standards including industrial time study
Providing support to CI200 wage teams
Software use: AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, SAS, SQL
What It Takes
Background in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, power systems, etc.)
Knowledge of process and industrial engineering practices, systems, and tools
Knowledge of engineering systems, tools and databases
Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools
Pursuing industrial, mechanical, or general engineering degree
Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university
Must be able to commute to the work location on a scheduled basis
Graduation date of May 2020 or later
Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
16 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
A strong candidate will also have
Experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, reliability, design, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, quality
Experience in Project management and business planning
Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases
Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools
