Title: Software Engineer - 63033

Your Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer on the Product, Machine Data and Analytics team in Unit 90, located in Moline, you will provide tangible expertise on big data and streaming technologies in the cloud, and how to leverage these to create a Scalable Data & Analytics solutions. In addition, you will:

  • Work with large data sets including data from internal sources as well as Internet of Things (IoT) streams from connected vehicles

  • Develop new functionality/code for high-volume data processes of medium to high complexity to include monitoring & support of day to day Extract Transform and Load (ETL) processes loading & transforming large data volumes, and participating in discussions/decisions regarding future engineering direction

  • Provide input to business and IT for existing and future solutions in support of Deere's data & analytics programs

  • Focus on Big Data and Cloud Based technologies as well as IOT based data streams

  • Understand and manage cost implications of proposed solutions and implementation of controls and management utilities

  • Be responsible to develop and enhance data quality for large scale analytic data environments

  • Provide expertise to resolve critical, complex technical issues around big data and analytic technology

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with existing source data teams, data and analytic platform teams, and business analytics teams

  • Mentor junior members of team, with a focus on growing talent

Proven Technical Skills and Experiences

  • 8 or more years of experience in the design, development, testing and integration of high complex software solutions in development with Sprint and Restful APIs leveraging change management

  • 4 or more years of understanding of applications development environment, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints

  • 1 or more years of deep experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • 1 or more years of working understanding of full-stack design patterns and designing loosely coupled architectures

  • 2 or more years of experience working with Test Driven Development and Unit Test Frameworks

  • 2 or more years of technical experience in multiple data warehouse systems or data lake technology, with demonstrated success in managing and administering big data technologies such as Hadoop, SPARK, HANA, Redshift, or AWS S3

  • 1 or more years of proven experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment

Interpersonal, Leadership and Teaming Competencies

  • Proven experience as working in a team environment

  • Capable of collaborating with multiple business stakeholders to provide information technology solution

  • Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution

  • Amazon web services certification or equivalent experience

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field
