Title: Staff Software Engineer - 92745

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

This position can be in Chicago, IL or the Quad Cities (IL, or IA) per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency

Your Responsibilities

As a Staff Software Engineer for John Deere World Headquarters located in Moline, IL , you will;

  • Be responsible for collaborating with other engineers to develop and support new and existing functionality and design the best technical solutions to complex business problems for the JDPrism suite applications.

  • Have opportunities that go well beyond the traditional design, development, testing, and delivery of new features that include exposure to automated test frameworks, CI/CD, pairing, and fully peer-reviewed code.

  • Design, develop, configure, test, and implement the JDPrism solution and relevant fixes

  • Evaluate and implement enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software solutions

  • Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs

  • Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation

What Skills You Need

  • 7 or more years of experience with Java web development with Spring and RESTful APIs design/development

  • 7 or more years of varied relational database experience (e.g., DB2, Aurora Postgres, SQL Server)

  • 3 or more years of experience on AWS

  • 3 or more years of experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, such as GitHub Actions or AzureDevOps

  • 2 or more years of experience with software test automation techniques (Test Driven Development) and framework (Junit, Mockito, Cucumber, Cypress)

  • 2 or more years of experience with PySpark, Python, Spark

  • Working experience of designing and developing service-based architectures and/or micro-services

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Working experience of various tools (Quality, security, monitoring, logging) such as Veracode, AppDynamics, SonarQube, Kibana, etc.

  • 4 or more years of work experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment

  • Ability to analyze, translate, and define business requirements into technical solutions and lead teams to deliver them

  • Experience with some or all the following development practices: source control, test driven development, SOLID, containerization, secure coding, CI/CD

  • Understanding of modern front-end design and tools (React, JavaScript/ES6, HTML5, etc.)

  • Success implementing innovative ideas and helping lead change within your team

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and mentor junior developers


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology discipline, computer science, computer engineering
