Title: Systems Engineer, Digital Solutions- 85015

Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position

This position is eligible for a flexible telework arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

This position may be located in Dubuque, IA., ISG Urbandale, IA, Moline, IL, Davenport, IA, or East Moline, IL areas.per the hiring manager's discretion.This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

Your Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer, Digital, for John Deere Construction & Forestry located in Dubuque, IA. orISG Urbandale, IA., ( or Moline, IL., Davenport, IA., Silvas, IL or Rock Island, IL.),you will support Deeres Smart Industrial initiative by developing and integrating Digital and Connected Machines solutions across our machine platforms. You will champion ensuring the right data is defined and collected, to provide maximum value to customers and dealers.

In addition, you will:

  • Work closely with vehicle platforms, Deere ISG technology groups, central engineering teams, and external suppliers to drive high value technology solutions, with seamless integration into Deere Construction equipment

  • Translate business requirements and end-user needs into data definitions, collection, interfaces, and requirements to support creation of valuable Digital solutions for customers and dealers. Create software requirements for technology subsystems. Recognize gaps and misalignments and propose solutions.

  • Participate in and/or lead technology development projects. Support creation of rapid prototypes and concepts

  • Coordinate the resolution of technology development issues. Provide support for software testing, machine evaluation, and customer evaluation

What Skills You Need

  • Strong communications skills (written and oral) working with global cross-functional teams

  • Experience in product design, test, or analysis

  • Software development experience, ideally with (but not limited to) C/C++, Qt, and/or Linux

  • Good understanding of engineering principles and can independently apply these principles to system development

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with Systems Engineering principles and requirements creation

  • Technical skill and knowledge in data and data architectures

  • Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics/troubleshooting of Electrical and Software subsystems or precision technology

  • Experience with CAN communications protocol and the J1939 standard

  • Experience with technology solutions utilized in the construction industry, such as grade control and GNSS positioning, telematics, data analytics, operations management software, etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with both local and global teams


Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering, Computer Science, or Technology related discipline.
