Primary Location: Canada (CA) - Ontario (CA-ON) - Oakville

Major Purpose:

The account credit manager actively works with channel partners to support sales and financing of equipment with large, complex, strategic accounts. In this role, the incumbent facilitates the structure and closing of large credit transactions with executive level management of both customers and dealers. The account credit manager provides extensive customer relationship management leadership through development and delivery of unique customer solutions. The incumbent is responsible for acting as the lead in relationships with customers with exposures greater than $2 Million and provides leadership and work direction to the local territory manager with respect to establishing internal guidance lines. The account credit manager is also responsible for managing and coordinating information gathering and communication between internal John Deere Financial (JDF) staff, the equipment division, dealers, and customers for transactions involving select strategic customers. This position is located in the Oakville office.

Major Duties:

  • Develops and implements a plan that delivers performance results in alignment with Company and Division objectives. Responsible for timely corrective actions ensuring goals are achieved

  • Works with channel partner network to ensure that sales and marketing initiatives are aligned with Company and Division objectives. Major focus with channel partners is customer acquisition and retention

  • Develops, sustains, and leverages effective business relationships with senior leadership and key operational personnel at large complex strategic accounts, dealers, the equipment division, and JDF

  • Coordinates all credit related activities of large credit transactions ($2 Million and above) with specified strategic customers. Coordinates activities with customer, dealer, and JDF relative to information gathering, pre-screening of customer's financial and management capabilities, deal structuring, pricing, and proactively manages customer and dealer expectations with regards to deal structure and credit approval process. Assists credit in presentations to credit committees as requested

  • Applies a highly focused and repeatable methodology to manage relationships with dealers and strategic customers to maximize the customer experience when dealing with JDF

  • Assesses opportunities, manages work process, secures dealer and equipment division alignment, and leads the execution of strategies designed to support the sale of Deere equipment and maximize financing opportunities with complex strategic accounts

  • Uses a consultative approach to gain insight into specific business needs and opportunities at large complex strategic accounts and works independently and as a member of a team in a highly creative environment to design customized solutions that meet the needs of the customer

  • Actively directs others as needed to insure seamless delivery of premium services to strategic customers

  • Identifies, evaluates, and recommends assignment of new customer accounts through analysis of local markets and ongoing discussions with Territory Finance Managers, dealers and equipment division contacts



  • Degree in a Business/Marketing/Sales discipline or equivalent credit and industry experience

  • Solid understanding of financial statements, cash flow and key financial ratios

  • Minimum 5 years of credit experience in equipment finance - leasing and lending

  • Successful negotiating and selling skills

  • Experience in underwriting, structuring and presenting large complex financial transactions


  • Bilingual, and/or ability to assess credit in French

  • Sales experience, preferably within a John Deere unit or division

  • Marketing/Customer Acquisition/Customer Support Process experience

  • Field experience with regular customer contact, knowledge of dealer/distribution network, broad product knowledge
