Title: Instructional Designer - 49164

Your Responsibilities

As an Instructional Designer for John Deere located in Olathe, Kansas, you will perform need assessments to determine training needs of the target participants - channel partners, company personnel or customers. In addition, you will:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and other stakeholders in assessment of training objectives, outcomes and measurements

  • Transform needs analysis data into learning objectives and create course outlines, assessments, and documentation to support the development of curriculum

  • Determine the appropriate instructional design strategy based upon the performance required of the learner

  • Determine and develop the appropriate method and media of the training using sound instructional design and adult learning principles

  • Modify content, delivery, or environment based upon evaluation findings

  • Maintain or facilitate the maintenance of electronic repository of learning objects and data files

  • Design and develop content

What Skills You Need

  • Business Process Knowledge of assigned area(s) and/or function(s)

  • Knowledge of products and services offered by the appropriate area of responsibility

  • Knowledge of activities, their sequence and measurement, and the ability to facilitate implementation of process and participate in process

  • Knowledge of various communication skills such as design, editing, photography, audio visual, web, marketing and advertising

  • Ability to travel up to 50%

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 4 or more years of experience in training and development area involved in activities such as instruction, needs assessments, curriculum development, and other such related training and development work

  • 4 or more years of technical training experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

  • 4 or more years of training experience of a non-technical nature

  • Experience using various department specific computer programs (Robohead, Widen)

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, or equivalent discipline
