Function: Product Engineering

Title: Part-Time Student-Industrial Designer-Vehicle Design-Remote- 85748

Onsite/Remote:Remote Position

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Companys regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule year-round.

Your Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of human factors, engineering principles and design trends to improve vehicles' functionality, customer valueand visual appeal.

  • Assist with vehicle design needs while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic using John Deeres industrial design language.

  • Assist lead designer with projects around John Deere as both a team member and consultant to ensure designs are executed according to specification.

  • Participate in product discovery and user research with product teams or end customer to clearly understand customer expectations and inform the product design.

What Skills You Need

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in industrial design, product design or transportation design; others may apply

  • Must be registered as a full-time student at an accredited university

  • Graduation date of December 2022or later

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

  • Available to work 10-20 hours/weekly during the academic year

  • Available to work 20-40 hours/weekly during the summer semester

  • Able to complete assignments while working 100% remote (may work onsite in Moline Illinois ifdesired)

  • Willingness to travel (less than 5%)

  • Excellent visualization skillsparticularly in digital sketching.

  • Ability to represent your designs in 3D

  • A strong portfolio highlighting ability to tell a complete story with just sketches and renderings

  • Experience interpreting a brands industrial design language while presenting unique and creative solutions

  • Experience with agricultural, construction, lawn careor recreational vehicles

  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
