Main Responsibilites:

As a Data Scientist for John Deere Global Supply Management & Logistics, you will:

  • Apply a variety of data science techniques, both computational and statistically based (including but not limited to machine learning, deep learning, regression, and classification) to increase effectiveness of Deere supply chain and logistics operations.

  • Develop applications and/or visualizations to allow business users (e.g., suppliers, strategic sourcing, procurement) to leverage the insights.

  • Identify and retrieve structured and unstructured data from new, complex, or messy data sources; work with Digital Thread and ModelOps teams to ensure data is available for research, development and production.

  • Explain analytics technique and usage in business terms, communicate value, drive adoption, and inspire action.

What Skills You Need:

  • Works with data sets and performs appropriate analytical methodology to provide insights and decision modeling for the business.

  • Creates and implements algorithms which manage the data to enable it to be analyzed in an efficient manner.

  • Supports the communication of derived insights, especially through appropriate visualization techniques.

  • Supports the identification of the required data sources and works with Data Wranglers and/or IT to implement methodologies to retrieve and use this data.

  • Stays abreast of the latest appropriate analytical techniques and recommends these where needed. Explains implementation and usage in business terms.

  • Applies analytical techniques to prospect for business insights and find patterns in data which could be valuable for the business.

  • Supports business management in all matters concerning analytical techniques. Supports the business transformation of the enterprise through analytics.

  • Works closely with data governance teams to ensure data is modeled efficiently in order to facilitate the required analytics.

  • Knowledge of advanced data gathering and analysis techniques, including statistical analysis.

Education:

  • Degree or relevant work experience in Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, Supply Chain/operation
