Title: Embedded Software Engineer (Entry-Level) - 56885

Your Responsibilities

As an entry-level Embedded Software Engineer, for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG-Urbandale), you will participate on a team that delivers the platform for our application developers. You will participate on a team to deliver Board Support Package (BSP), Linux kernel, device drivers and a hardware abstraction layer to simplify application development. In addition, you will:

  • Perform basic product design, testing and/or analysis work.

  • Operate in a scrum team environment.

  • Provide input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.

  • Develop recommendations within established guidelines (work and decisions are reviewed by technical leads before implementation).

What Skills You Need

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Training or experience in embedded software product development using C++ and or C

  • Training or experience in scripting languages embedded software product development using Python and Bash

  • Must be a self-starter, able to work well without close direction

  • Must interface successfully with engineers and personnel of other disciplines

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Training or experience with Object Oriented Analysis/Design (OOA/D)

  • Training or experience with multi-threaded systems

  • Experience using Linux, WinCE, Qt, UI frameworks, OpenGL, Database Architect/SQL and Enterprise Architect

  • Experience with Agile software development practices

  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and software test automation

  • Experience with UDP, TCP/IP, CAN networking communication protocols

  • Advanced Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
