Title: Senior Software Engineer, Delivery Tools - 62669

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer for Delivery Tools, at the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG-Urbandale), you will improve internal software delivery by developing tools in collaboration with a small, agile team working in numerous technology stacks. In addition, you will:

  • Support and collaborate with internal software developers on a daily basis

  • Follow the Kanban Method for tiered work priorities and visibility

  • Use modern technical practices - test-first, pairing, continuous integration

  • Participate in daily standup to triage issues and collaborate on feature development

What Skills You Need

  • 5 or more years of experience in software analysis, design, and implementation

  • 5 or more years of experience in Linux system administration or Linux as software development environment

  • Effective problem-solving skills which include ability to debug and develop in many, changing programming languages and technologies

  • Experience that demonstrates effective communication skills needed to support end-users of off-the-shelf and custom software tools

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience deploying and operating applications using Amazon Web Service (AWS) resources

  • Knowledge of Linux system administration and virtualization (Ubuntu, Terraform, SaltStack, VMWare, Vagrant, docker, icinga)

  • Experience with Extreme Programming (XP) technical practices - test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration (CI), pairing

  • Experience operating and optimizing web applications (java, nginx, Artifactory), including monitoring and analytics

  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration tool configuration and operation (Jenkins, Drone, Gitlab)

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Science or Technology related discipline
