Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer for JD Intelligent Solutions Group located in Urbandale, Iowa , you will...
Collaborates with developers, engineers, and architects to design, implement, and maintain API Services and frameworks. Drive reliability, performance, quality, and cost improvements for ISG Platform Services applications.
Mentor other engineers on software engineering best practices and techniques.
Create and maintain reliable, efficient and performant data ingestion pipelines to process and store huge amounts of precision ag data for quick and proficient retrieval by downstream applications.
Provide inputs for continuous improvement efforts and product roadmaps.
Takes a lead role in preparing technical plans for application/system designs, communicating delivery estimates, and ensuring delivery of high quality products and services
Developing and supporting high quality John Deere agronomic software solutions which may include web applications, mobile applications, or RESTful APIs

What Skills You Need
6 or more years of experience in software engineering
2 or more years of experience in geospatial data analysis and visualization.
2 or more years of experience with data pipelines, ingestion and large data sets.
2 or more years of experience working with AWS-based services and infrastructure setup using Infrastructure as Code.
2 or more years of experience with Continuous Integration and Build Pipeline Automation
2 or more years of experience with Agile software development practices
Experienced in ensuring API services have the right level of logging and observability.
Capability to quickly learn new programming concepts and languages.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional agile teams.
Open-minded and ready to learn and adapt.
What Makes You Stand Out
Experience with Precision Ag technologies and their use is a plus.
AWS Certification is a plus.
Experience in maintaining and/or refactoring legacy code bases
Experience with functional programming
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent years of related work experience.
