This position can be remote
As a Sr. Data Scientist, at John Deere in Urbandale, IA, you will work as a part of the ISG analytics team to generate high-value business insights on agronomic and geospatial analytics projects. The role will work with large and diverse data sets aiming to solve a variety of questions posed by the business. This individual will lead the identification of the required data sources and implement methodologies to assess and cleanse data to the level required to address the business need. In addition, you will;
Model and frame business scenarios that are impactful on critical business problems and/or decisions connected with dealers and customers
Articulate these value propositions in the form of stories from data
Execute modern machine learning methodologies (Boosted Trees, Neural Networks) as well as have solid fundamentals (linear and logistic regression models, feature engineering), and utilize these to frame business scenarios that impact critical business problems and/or decisions connected with dealers and customers
Implement algorithms that extract information from machine-generated data and analyze it in an efficient manner
Work closely with the Data Infrastructure teams to ensure data is stored efficiently and in such a way to facilitate the required analytics
Extract and organize data independently using technologies such as Spark and SQL
Proactively apply analytical techniques to prospect for business insights and find patterns in data which could be valuable for the business

Proven Technical Skills and Experiences
In depth knowledge of current analytical methods and techniques and be able to utilize these to execute and lead in a team environment
Experience using SQL and Python
2+ years of experience applying analytical methodologies and techniques on advanced projects, being able to demonstrate the development of algorithms and predictive models to solve business issues
2+ years of experience working on cross-functional/divisional projects
Ability to communicate complex analytical insights in a manner which is clearly understandable by the business partners
Interpersonal, Leadership and Teaming Competencies
Demonstrate external publications in the field of data and analytics
Experience analyzing agronomic and geo-spatial data sets
Experience of leading multi-functional project teams, especially following the Agile methodology
Education (or equivalent work experience)
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant study area is required (e.g. mathematics, statistics, advanced analytics)
Master's Degree is strongly preferred
