Title: Dynamic System Modeling-Senior Engineer - 43310

Your Responsibilities

As a Dynamic System Modeling – Senior Engineer at John Deere Power System (JDPS) in Waterloo, Iowa, you will be responsible for developing and applying simulation tools and expertise to aid in the design, development and integration of diesel power systems. In addition you will:

  • Contribute to the development of a common simulation workflow to enable efficient and sustainable performance modeling spanning multiple layers of system decomposition across the product development processes. In addition

  • Integrate the common simulation workflow with a modular plant and controls model library to enable abstract management of the model and simulation tool configuration

  • Serve as a workflow core team member to develop new capabilities which support the product development process; interface with various functional areas which may include Engine Performance, Aftertreatment, and Embedded Controls teams

  • Apply workflow to achieve Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) by developing and capturing engineering processes which evaluate virtual component and system models against product requirements prior to physical test

  • Integrate workflow/engineering processes with a continuous integration server to reduce defects and improve product quality via automated virtual testing

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years’ experience in product engineering

  • 3 or more years' experience working with commercial modeling and simulation tools such as: Gt-Suite, Matlab\Simulink, and/or Apache Subversion or similar tools

  • Experience in the development and calibration of diesel engines, aftertreatment, and/or controls systems

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to identify innovative and creative solutions to complex problems

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Systems Engineering experience

  • Experience in physics-based model development and calibration

  • Experience with AUTOSAR software

  • Experience interfacing with and evaluating machine performance

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related work experience

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred
