Your Responsibilities

As an Embedded Software Developer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group, you will be part of an embedded software development team to provide controls-based solutions which increase customer utilization and comfort such as engine power management, automatic temperature control and, active seat dampening. You will

Develop and test high quality software features in C for John Deere Operator Station embedded controllers within the operator controls subsystem

Lead investigations of embedded software issues to find true root cause and provide sustainable software solutions

Collaborate with system engineers and software architects to help define feature requirements and system designs

Pair with individuals on an Agile scrum team to develop software features using a world class design process and tool chain

What Skills You Need

2 or more years of experience in software product development

Proven mastery of C programming or Model Based Software Development (MBSD)

Expert in troubleshooting embedded software issues

Ability and willingness to work in a diverse team environment, helping others on the team succeed

Excellent collaboration and communication skills

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Test driven development and MBSD simulation experience

  • Practical experience with embedded software continuous integration practices and tools

  • Practical experience with CAN and LIN communication protocols

  • Ability to work with cross functional stakeholders (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, product design, marketing, etc) to understand customer requirements and how those can be translated into software requirements and implementations

  • Experience in developing a sustainable software architecture for multiple common products

  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt, and willingness to keep growing skills to contribute to an evolving team

  • Focus and passion for developing innovative technical solutions to solve customer problems

  • Background with John Deere products, farming practices and/or farm equipment operation


  • Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
