Your Responsibilities

As a Hazardous Materials Specialist for John Deere located in Waterloo, Iowa, you will assure compliance with US and international regulations for hazardous materials movement and phytosanitary requirements to avoid incidents that could result in significant fines, place the public at risk, adversely affect manufacturing capability or damage the reputation of the company. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Training activities and processes

  • Conducting high level process audits

  • Developing standard procedures for packing, marking, and documenting hazardous materials

    Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.

What Skills You Need

  • 1 or more years working with Occupational Safety & Health Guidelines, methods, and processes, ideally including the guidelines and processes that are followed at John Deere

  • 1 or more years working with and handling hazardous material which includes waste disposal, shipping, etc.

  • Working knowledge of logistics processes and applicable governmental regulations

What Makes You Stand Out

  • 1 or more years of experience in the Environmental profession in a manufacturing environment

  • 1 or more years in dealing with regulatory agencies on issues pertaining to health and safety and/or environment

  • 1 or more years of experience in specific areas of Supply Management such as supplier integration, strategic supply management, supplier development, module supply management, scheduling, forecasting, logistics, etc.

  • Logistics work experience in such areas as warehousing, materials management, transportation, broker, forwarder, etc.

  • 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing operation, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering environment

  • Experience working with Department of Transportation regulations

Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in one or more of these disciplines: Supply Management/Logistics, Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene, Health/Medicine, Physical Science, or Engineering/Technology
