Function: Product Engineering
Title: Hydraulics Design Engineer - 53475
As a Hydraulics Design Engineer for the John Deere Product Engineering Center, you will understand and review requirements, write specifications at the component and subsystem level, and provide component and subsystem designs that meet these requirements to ensure successful completion of projects. Successful projects improve our current products in terms of performance, uptime, and cost of operation. In addition, you will:
Work with marketing, suppliers, supply management, manufacturing, and other vehicle systems to design new systems using new and existing components (e.g. steering valves, brake valves, and manifolds) to provide cost effective and high performance hydraulic systems
Utilize analysis tools (e.g. AMESIM, ProE, Creo, Excel and others) to predict and ensure performance to requirements, including analysis of lab data and field history
Perform successfully in a lab and field environment. Hydraulics lab duties are to gather early data from prototype machines or prototype subsystems for correlation to models that will be used in design iteration
Provide a completed design with documentation for product verification and validation prior to durability tractor design to iterate before release; including use of c-projects to meet and release schedules
Work closely with the chassis group, operator station, software, and other functional groups which cross the hydraulics subsystem boundary

What Skills You Need
One or more years of successful design experience of vehicle hydraulics
Experience with Creo or another CAD software
Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects

Demonstrated ability in hydraulics analysis
Experience in electro-hydraulic control system design
Experience working within an engineering laboratory to identify and solve problems
Mechatronics design experience
Hydraulic component design experience
Good understanding of agricultural equipment applications
Education (or equivalent work experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering with a Power and Machinery emphasis
