Function: Manufacturing Engineering

Title: Machining Manufacturing Engineer, Gear and Shaft - 79865

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

This is a variable 3rd shift position. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a 3rd shift Machining Manufacturing Engineer, Gear and Shaft, for John Deere Drivetrain Components located in Waterloo, IA, you will….

  • Support 3rd shift (10:30pm – 07:00am) machining operations

  • Identify safety, quality, and delivery issues and resolve them or communicate issues to responsible day shift personnel and follow up as necessary

  • Remain flexible with hours for overlap with other shifts, training and development, and other necessary reasons

    Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.

What Skills You Need

  • Experience in machining steel components, preferably gears and shafts

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to interact with all levels in the organization and supplier personnel.

  • Demonstrated proficiency to use algebra, geometry, and trigonometry

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Demonstrated high ability with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience in roles that required a working knowledge of shaping, hobbing, turning, milling, drilling and hard finishing of ferrous materials Experience applying gear and shaft manufacturing tools and technology

  • Experience in shop floor process adjustments necessary to correct geometry and quality problems

  • Experience with interpreting part prints and GD&T designations

  • Experience with the use of AutoCAD or related software.

  • Experience with leading and supporting cross functional teams for projects of moderate scope

  • Experience using Power BI, Tableau, JDAAT or other data analysis tools

  • Experienced in using SAP

  • Experience working on an off shift

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Associate of Science in Manufacturing Technology and minimum of 2 years of applicable work experience or Bachelor of Arts/Science in an Engineering or Technology related field
