Function: Manufacturing Engineering
Title: Machining Manufacturing Engineer, Service Parts Operations - 55878
John Deere Waterloo Works is seeking a Machining Manufacturing Engineer to support the Service Parts Operations (SPO). In this position, you will support daily production in Dpt. 304 Cast Iron machining including:
Lead efforts to troubleshoot and resolve production process, machine, and quality issues
Plan and implement projects to improve cast iron manufacturing processes: safety, ergonomics, and quality improvements, and cost reduction.
Write and support lathe and machining center CNC programs Optimize programs based on process stability, part cost, and tooling cost
Lead efforts in creating the process plan, routings, fixturing, perishable tooling, work instructions, quality plans and labor standards for new parts and current operations
Specify, design, and manage the procurement of cast iron manufacturing equipment, tools and gages
Lead team studies in capacity, productivity and efficiency
Verify that the documentation related to Process Audits reflect the process that is being executed on the shop floor

What Skills You Need
A strong core Manufacturing Engineering skill set
Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with the wage and salary workforce
Ability to understand and interpret Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing (GD&T)
Tool and fixture design skills
Project management experience
Ability to work off shift and overtime, as needed
Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
What Makes You Stand Out
Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:
CNC programming experience
Knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) report structure
Experience with CAD and CAM software programs: Pro/E, AutoCAD, FeatureCAM
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, should the need arise
Knowledge and experience using SAP business software
Experience with shop floor manufacturing incentive pay systems
Understanding of Industrial Engineering basics
Education (or equivalent work experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Agriculture), or Technology (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Technology Management) or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment
