Title: Manager, Performance Analysis -Aftertreatment and DSM - 61830

Your Responsibilities

As a Manager, Performance Analysis – Aftertreatment & DSM for John Deere Power Systems, located in Waterloo, IA, you will be responsible for managing a team of analysts in the areas of After-Treatment (AT) and Dynamic Systems Modeling (DSM) within the Performance Analysis group. It will ensure that this team will provide technical services in the areas of AT modeling and Model Based Development (MBD) within Engine Engineering (EE). In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical leadership in the development of AT (component and system) models for all Deere power units

  • Contribute to and coordinate activities related to developing engineering workflows using DSM

  • Manage the process of development, release and maintenance of repository grade AT models. This also extends to deploying and supporting the AT repository models for users outside the Performance Analysis group. The models are related to the

  • DOC/DPF system

  • NOx control system (decomp tube, SCR, and AOC)

  • Fluid delivery systems

  • Develop and maintain AT modeling road map ensuring that they are in alignment with AT technology and product development activities

  • Be accountable for execution, milestones, risk assessment and tracking of team responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties related to performance management, development of direct reports and succession planning. This includes contribution to resource planning and training

  • Ensure that analysis methods are documented and overall results captured to maintain knowledge management

  • Interact with the AT modeling software vendors and suppliers

What Skills You Need

  • 10 or more years industry experience in area related to engine/aftertreatment performance

  • Strong background in the area of modeling aftertreatment components (DOC, DPF, SCR, etc.) and system

  • Demonstrated technical leadership in the area of aftertreatment modeling and analysis

  • 5 or more years of experience with the simulation tool GT-SUITE or similar industry-standard tools

  • Extensive computer skills including use of other tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink)

  • Excellent communication and team skills

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience in working and interacting with aftertreatment suppliers to ensure a) appropriate measurements for models calibrations are provided and b) if available, their black-box AT models are also provided

  • Solid background in developing test protocols to acquire synthetic gas bench measurements for calibrating and validating JDPS aftertreatment models

  • Ability to work with consultants and software vendors to improve tool capabilities by identifying such areas

Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Master's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
