Function: Quality Engineering
Title: OFP Commodity Quality Engineer-Metal Fabrication - 51518
As an OFP Commodity Quality Engineer-Metal Fabrication for John Deere Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, IA, you will perform Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and manage assigned commodity, suppliers, and associated activities for Model Year change and continuous improvement projects. In addition, you will:
Engage in applying and leading Quality tools in Product Delivery Process (PDP) teams
Schedule, lead, and manage Design Process and Assembly Reviews (DPARs), pFMEA review, print reviews, and design reviews of purchased parts
Communicate APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) expectations to the suppliers, and hold them accountable to manage timely execution of their quality plans, review and approve through the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Identify, communicate and resolve supplier quality problems
Drive problem resolution and prevention actions through NCCA (Corrective Action process)
Conduct audits of new and existing suppliers to determine manufacturing capability and adherence to accepted quality practices (Process verification Audits and Special Process Audits)

What Skills You Need
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
2 or more years of experience with quality management and manufacturing processes
Experience utilizing quality tools (pFMEA, control plans, design review, Gauge R&R, and PPAP)
Working knowledge of part print interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Demonstrated problem solving skills, corrective action and preventive action
Effective skills in facilitating, leading, and managing small teams and projects. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
What Makes You Stand Out
Experience with metal fabrication: welding, laser cutting, and stamping
Proficient with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Proficient with Microsoft Office, SAP, cProject and statistical programs
ASQ certifications such as CQE, CSSGB and/or CSSBB
Education (or equivalent work experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
