Function: Product Engineering
Title: Part-Time Student-Product Engineering-Waterloo IA - 74127
The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students to work in parallel with their school schedule.
At John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) an Engine Designer utilizes design modeling tools to create concept/production intent designs for engine performance and emissions systems. This includes:
Utilizing design modeling tools to create prototype and production intent part designs and assemblies.
Working with project engineers to incorporate design needs into a unified product approach which balances manufacturing needs with performance requirements.
Supporting engine builds with assembly instructions and troubleshooting of components.
Making part orders.
Working with suppliers.
Supporting Product Verification and Validation (PV&V) through the component and system testing.
What Skills You Need
Ideally you will be pursuing an Associates or higher degree in Mechanical Design or a design certificate ; others may apply
Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
Graduation date of 2024 or later
Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
Available to work during the academic year
Available to work during the summer semester
Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
Available to work on and complete assignments remotely
CAD (preferably CREO) experience (may be course work, school projects, outside work or projects, etc)
Mechanical or product design experience (may be course work, school projects, outside work or projects, etc)
